TMA1402: Creative Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Blog 4, Start-up Part 1

For this module we were put into groups that were mixed of different art practicers. I was ordinary put into other group and due to my medical condition which means I have non-epileptic seizures, I asked to move to a group where someone knew me and would know what to do if I had a seizure. When moving groups I was put into group I, which consisted of two photographer two inter designers and two graphic designers we as a group had six weeks to create our own concept for a start-up business plan. This could be on any idea or concept you wanted your start-up business to be. After being put into our group and given or brief the group met to go through all our ideas and to agree on which idea we wanted to move forward with. We had all come with ideas we had researched and out of these ideas the main common theme was to build a place where teenagers and young adults can come together this space would be used for mental health, art space, one-to-one therapy and also include people with a disabilities. We all agreed that this was the way to move forward by putting these things that was important together and making a space for all areas to come together and create a wellbeing centre.

After our first meeting we decided to meet at least once a week either in person or on teams but to keep in contact on our process via a WhatsApp group we had made. We all went away from our first meeting with research to do on the topic and where we wanted this place to be, we all agreed to stick in the area of Huddersfield and this would be convenient as most of us apart from one person lived local to the place and was easy to reeky. After researching the local area and other services that offer similar things to what we were doing and finding a local space that we could turn into a wellbeing centre and easy for people to get to if commuting. I researched the surrounding area which included Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Batley, Ossett, Mirfield, Bradford and Leeds. I looked into other services that were provided in these areas to do with wellbeing, one of these places was the Women Centre, I knew this Organisation as I have used it for coming up to six years and is a place that has helped me through my hardest times, they have more then one centre which are based in Dewsbury, Huddersfield and Bradford and I thought this would be a great place to use as a reference for our own place we wanted to create.
