Guest lecture Thomas Duffield: 1
This week we had Thomas Duffield as our guest speaker, Thomas is currently studying for a Masters degree at the University of Huddersfield and finished his BA (Hons) in Photography. Whilst speaking over Teams, Thomas talked about his project which was centred around his childhood, living in a caravan and finding out his father was an heroine addict at the age of 10 years old. So his projects ask the questions about his past: What happened? Why? and When?. Thomas only saw his father at Christmas, when he was wanting to do the project centred around his father, he got in touch with his father, to sit down and have a chat with him and take some photographs. After spending time with his father, they were having a good time, laughing, joking and forming a relationship and went from seeing him once a year to every week; Thomas felt that it was not the right time to get the camera out and take photographs and the relationship they were forming was more important.
