Guest Lecture Carlotta Cardana: 2
Carlotta continued the discussion on how difficult it is to have a career in photography, it is hard to get seen and recognised. The way Carlotta said that she worked around this and to get her name out there was to enter competitions and send emails to potential clients. Entering competitions also helped Carlotta get commissions. Carlotta then discussed her project ‘The Red Road Project’ that she started in 2013 after going to school in the America. Whilst she was there she became friends with a Native American women and when the friend came to visit Carlotta after she had moved to London, she talked about her Native American culture. Carlotta wanted to learn more about her friend’s culture and visited her friend’s reservation in North Dakota. Carlotta and her friend wanted to try and change stereotypes of the Native American culture, they were trying to bring a positive narrative as North Dakota is a very racist area in America.
