Documentary Photography

While documentary photography was never an area of photography I would have gone into, this has changed due the Covid19 pandemic, I had to find a way around the restrictions to be able to produce work. It is not easy not being able to do an area of photography that you are comfortable in, but it was impossible to carry on down that path with the restriction and would have put people at risk; you never want to do something that could affect people’s health. In the past I would not have pushed myself to go into documentary photography as I have never done it before. I would have stuck to my comfort zone, but I have changed over the past 5 or 6 years with the amount of things I have gone through. The challenges have helped me with bringing my photography forward, giving me confidence to reach outside my comfort zone. Whilst documentary photography is something new to me, I think I have found an area in photography I love to do. Pushing myself out of my comfort zone has work for me and made me a better photographer, viewing daily live and activities differently.
