TMA1402: Creative Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Blog 9, Start-up Part 6

After this meeting with Alex I was very upset and hurt about been made the ‘bad guy’ in a situation I had not created or even wanted to be fair and when I have been trying my best to do the work and make sure we have something to show. I had also felt that we had talked through some of these issue in a group chat and moved on and to be brought back up, felt like we took 5 steps forward and pushed us back 10 steps and we was at a standstill. The day of the meeting my dad had been rushed in to hospital and with not knowing if he was going to be ok or what was wrong with him, I did not know what to do for the best about going into university or not. In the end my mum told me to go in, that my dad was in the best place and they was nothing I could do at home. On Friday mornings I had tutorials, so went straight in to meet one of my tutors, on my way in, I had ones of my mates meet as when travelling in, I began thinking about what just happened at home with my dad and by the time I had gotten to university was a right mess and broke down crying on my friend and one of the staff members. They had sat me down made sure I was ok, gotten me a cup of tea, at that time I was meant to be in my tutorial, so my friend went and got our tutor Dr Liam Devlin and told him what had happened and he came down stairs to talk with me, everyone was fully understanding of what I had been through. Liam did not talk to me about my work, he just spoke to me about my fathers health and how I was feeling and if I needed to go home then that would be ok. After getting my feelings off my chest I decided that I would stay for my meeting for the group  start-up business as we did not have much time left until we completed this module and needed these tweaks/issue in our group resolving to be able to move forward.

Professor Alex Coles, started the group meeting by looking at the designs Mehroosa had done for the logo and he felt the same as me and Gabs were saying, that it did not fit the concept and was more centred around something to do with flowers, like a garden centre. When then showed him the designs the design that Hannah had made, he asked why we did not want to use these and we said it was because we did not want to use someone’s design as she was now not in the group anymore, I thought we need a new one. Alex said that Hannah’s concept fitted the start-up business more and to use that, even though she left the group it was made for our group project and so it is fine to be used. Some of the members of the group where still not happy about the idea of using this logo but agreed to do so and Gabs said she would re draw the image and change bits of it in a slight way, so it was more of her design then Hannah’s which we all agreed with. Alex told the group that we should stick to our own areas of expertise as this is what we are good at and these with more aimed at telling Gabs to do the graphics side of things and Mehroosa sticking to interia design and helping Femi and Sushmitha with this. We all knew our jobs roles and what we were meant to be doing.
